The National Biodiesel Foundation was organized in 1994. The mission of the National Biodiesel Foundation is to accomplish outreach, education, research and demonstration activities for the advancement of biodiesel and its co-products to improve rural economic development, national security, air quality and the environment.

Biodiesel Facility Opens in Sioux Falls, South Dakota


SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - America's only advanced biofuel is now available year-round in southwestern Minnesota, eastern South Dakota and northwest Iowa. The South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, Harms Oil Company, National Biodiesel Foundation and Clean Cities have partnered to expand the availability of biodiesel in the region. 

Pure biodiesel (B100) is currently being blended year-round to make B5, B11, and B20 blends in many northern parts of the USA.  Due to lack of heated lines/tanks in Sioux Falls, biodiesel was previously only available for blending in warm months.  Through this joint effort, the Sioux Falls biodiesel blending facility at Harms Oil will now incorporate a heated tank to allow for year-round blending of the advanced biofuel.                                                                                                                                                                                  What We Do
