3rd Annual Biofuels: Science & Sustainability Tour

Jan 11, 2012
Farmer leaders from throughout the country have descended on the Big Apple to see the bourgeoning Bioheat industry in action.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) recently hosted the 3rd Annual Biofuels: Science and Sustainability Tour  that brought together Washington, DC policymakers and regulators with renewable fuels experts, agriculture leaders and state and university officials from Iowa.

The goal was to give participants a three-day “crash course” on the Iowa renewable fuels industry by presenting sound, science-based information and a “hands on” look at the practices applied in the biofuels and agriculture industries today.

The tour was hosted and sponsored by Iowa State University Bioeconomy Institute, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, National Biodiesel Foundation, Renewable Fuels Foundation, Big River Resources, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Renewable Products Marketing Group.
The tour was designed to “fuel the truth” on issues ranging from food and fuel, gas prices, E15, advanced biofuels, greenhouse gas emissions, distillers grains, seed research, crop yield trends, sustainable practices in agriculture and renewable fuels production, legislative and regulatory policy, and the future of biorefining.
